Biographical Info
As a Registered Clinical Counsellor, with 25 years of therapeutic experience, it has been my honour to support children, youth, adults, and families to address life’s challenges and heal, grow, and thrive. I have worked in educational, health care, community, and private practice settings, providing a safe & inclusive space for diverse clients to address a wide range of emotional, behavioral, relational, school, career, and work related concerns. As program coordinator, and clinical supervisor for a child trauma program, in a large non profit agency, I supported counselling staff & interns to deepen their knowledge & skills in supporting children, youth, adults, and families to heal from trauma, get unstuck, and unlock their deepest potential for well being. I have developed school &; community based programs for children, youth, caregivers/parents, families on violence prevention, healthy relationships skills, grief & loss, and trauma. I hold a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology and have specialized training in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (Level 1 & 2; SP for children, adolescents & families), Holistic Expressive Arts Therapy, Play Therapy, and other trauma informed and attachment based models of therapy. My counselling approach is collaborative, strength based, holistic (with a mind-body-emotion focus), culturally sensitive and informed by the latest knowledge & research on trauma, attachment & neuroscience. I believe that people are deeply wise, resilient, and possess an innate capacity for healing, growth, and thriving. To support clients in a holistic way, I integrate complementary approaches that support deep healing and well being: Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (a mind-body approach), Holistic Expressive Therapy, Play Therapy Methods, Internal Family Systems, and Mindfulness Practices. I offer individual and family sessions to children, youth, adults and families in person or virtually. My areas of practice include trauma, grief & loss, life transitions, relationship concerns, parenting concerns, anxiety, depression, anger management, body image issues, disordered eating, self harm behavior, family conflict, behavioural concerns, school concerns, and career/workplace concerns.
