Biographical Info
As a Registered Clinical Counsellor, with 25 years of therapeutic experience, it has been my honour to support children, youth, adults, and families to address life’s challenges and heal, grow, and thrive. I have worked in a variety of settings, providing a safe & inclusive space for diverse clients to address a wide range of emotional, behavioral, relational, school, work & health related concerns. As a child & family therapist and clinical supervisor for a child trauma program, I supported counselling staff & interns, to deepen their knowledge & skills in supporting children, youth, adults, and families to heal from trauma, strengthen their relationships, and unlock their deepest potential for well being. Additionally, I have developed school & community based programs for children, youth & caregivers/parents on violence prevention, healthy relationships skills, grief & loss, and trauma. I hold a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology and have specialized training in various trauma informed & attachment based models of therapy. To support clients in a holistic way, I integrate complementary approaches that support deep healing & well being: Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (a mind-body approach), Holistic Expressive Therapy, Play Therapy Methods, Internal Family Systems, and Mindfulness Practices. My counselling approach is collaborative, strength based, holistic (with a mind-body-emotion focus), culturally sensitive and informed by the latest knowledge & research on trauma, attachment & neuroscience. I believe that people are wise, resilient, and possess a natural capacity for growth and wellbeing. Therapy can provide a safe space for clients to unlock this deep potential for well being. I offer individual and family sessions to children, youth, adults and families. My areas of specialization include: trauma & related concerns, anxiety, depression, stress, grief & loss, life transitions, relationship concerns, parenting challenges and a range of other emotional, behavioral, and attachment concerns. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or a free 15 min initial consultation call at: [email protected]; https://bcacc.ca/counsellors/frances-soon/; https://sensorimotorpsychotherapy.org/therapist-directory/frances-soon-ma-rcc/

“The activities that are the easiest, cheapest, and most fun to do – such as singing, playing games, reading, storytelling, and just talking and listening – are also the best for child development.”
– Jerome Singer (professor, Yale University)
