Bio
Moheb Attaalla, M.C, B.S.W., R.S.W., R.C.C, RTC, Registered Social Worker with BC College of Social Workers, Registered Clinical Counsellor with BC Association of Clinical Counsellors, Registered Therapeutic Counsellor with the Association of Cooperative Counsellor Therapists of Canada, Certified Expressive Arts Therapist, I am also an Expressive Play Therapist and Child and Family Therapist. Our children are the gift of life; they are the flowers of the future. They are entitled to live a healthy life and grow up in a haven where they can express their feelings, emotions, and thoughts without judgment, fear, or being shut down. I am a Certified Expressive Arts Therapist with the Ontario Expressive Arts Therapist Association (OEATA) and an Expressive Play Therapist. I help children express themselves, especially when they struggle to articulate their thoughts and feelings. I use various therapeutic modalities, such as visual arts, music and voice-based approaches, drama therapy and storytelling, and movement and dance therapy, to help individuals, families, and group settings express themselves. I use the play therapy approach, which works in parallel with expressive arts therapy, to help children have fun while receiving therapy simultaneously. I alternate between expressive arts and play therapy in the same session with children based on the child's needs and the nature of the issue. I have been a registered social worker for fourteen years. I hold a bachelor's degree in social work and a certificate in community counseling. I am also trained in Motivational Interviews (MI) and as a trained FASD Key Worker. I worked in counseling and parenting for 11 years. I support people in coping with mental disorders such as depression, anxiety, and eating disorders. I also help people cope with trauma, attachment issues, and relationships. In addition, I specialize in Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) and ADHD. I support parents and caregivers in learning an overview of FASD, brain functionality, and parenting children with FASD, ADHD, anxiety, and anger issues. I have over 15 years of experience in social work and counselling. I worked in different countries, which gave me an understanding of the Eastern and Western cultures, customs, and religious beliefs. I was a social worker in the school system, the social services, settlement work, marriage and family therapy, family development, FASD Key work, family support, and Expressive Arts and Play therapy. I believe counseling is an excellent mission, in which I listen to my clients' needs and challenges with genuine empathy and deep curiosity, supporting them without judgment. I explore options with my clients and help them choose the best solution. My passion for counseling is when my clients smile after the session and believe there is still hope for the future. In my practice, I utilize social work approaches, including counseling skills and expressive arts and play therapies, to help clients reach their potential. I speak fluent Italian and Arabic.

“The activities that are the easiest, cheapest, and most fun to do – such as singing, playing games, reading, storytelling, and just talking and listening – are also the best for child development.”
– Jerome Singer (professor, Yale University)
