Janet Walker

Janet is a Registered Clinical Counsellor, a Certified Expressive Arts Therapist, and a BC Registered Play Therapist, and a Child-Parent Relational Therapist working in Nanaimo, BC. She works in French and English with children, adolescents, and adults in her indoor and outdoor studios. She is also a school counsellor at L'École Océane (French School Board, S.D.#93). She adapts her play and arts-based therapeutic work to the age and background of each client and works uses a variety of artistic modalities to allow for the greatest range of self-expression and self-exploration. Clients come to address issues of grief, anxiety, depression, trauma, and difficult or disruptive behaviour. She did a Masters in Expressive Arts Therapy with a minor in Psychology at the European Graduate School in Switzerland, a Graduate Certificate in Play Therapy at Concordia University in Montréal, as well as numerous intensive courses in Play Therapy, Sand Play Therapy, Dance/Movement Therapy, Music Therapy, Poetry Therapy, Photo Therapy, Brain Dance, and other expressive modalities. She is also a certified teacher with 20 years of experience with the French School Board (Conseil Scolaire Francophone de la C.-B.) She comes from a family of helping professionals: her mother and brother also work as clinical counsellors and her grandmother and grandfather had long careers as Jungian psychotherapists.
