Art Therapy engages our senses in a way that words cannot. It encourages both verbal and non-verbal recognition of cognitive, emotional and sensorimotor processing. It promotes mindfulness, self-acceptance, compassion and the opportunity for repair and healing. Basic theory will be covered, as well as hands on experience into the language of art materials and ways to respond to the creative process within a session.
Speaker of the Day: Josy Valero-Frias, DVATI
Driven by her experience of living, learning and working around the world, Josy brings a unique perspective to art therapy. She has had the opportunity to work with children, families and seniors mainly living with trauma, developmental challenges, dementia and grief and loss. Josy currently balances her time between her private practice in Vancouver, and a private hospital running the therapeutic activities department.
