Allison Stickney

Biographical Info I love play, art, and narrative as well as other therapies. I think it’s important for people to share their stories and understand that they have the ability to rewrite it. More than anything, I love working with children using play modalities, but I enjoy working with youth and adults, as well. I have supported ages 3-70+. From managing life's pressure (anxiety) to relationships, life transitions, family support, challenging behaviours or the messiness that we so often are faced with- I am comfortable to support you during whatever life journey is feeling challenging. Accepted as you are, we will navigate healing together. I have learned that relationships are one of the most important things; meeting people where they are at and sharing what they are going through. It is an honor to walk that journey together. I like to help people get comfortable with some of the uncomfortable things they are experiencing so they can feel free from the effects of overworked nervous system. With a diverse background of working with individuals who are neurodiverse, working within public and private schools, teaching preschool, running a daycare, and working as a Youth and Family Counsellor, I have an abundance of skills. Some of my greatest and most relevant experience comes from being a parent, though. I know that it can feel difficult to reach out but I will do my best to make it easier. I can provide support in the moment, strategies for the future, and psychoeducation. I believe that you are the expert of your change, and I am happy to facilitate the space for that growth and be with you for the journey. Please feel free to reach out with any questions.

“The activities that are the easiest, cheapest, and most fun to do – such as singing, playing games, reading, storytelling, and just talking and listening – are also the best for child development.”
– Jerome Singer (professor, Yale University)
